State Marks Juneteenth Monday
State officials are celebrated Juneteenth Monday, but say more must be done. Last summer Governor J-B Pritzker signed a law creating the holiday, marking the end of slavery in the US. Juneteenth later became a federal holiday. Monday, he joined an event in Chicago, echoing the sentiments of many that the fight isn’t over. Governor Pritzker says though the state is making strides with investments in violence reduction programs, job training and education and reforms to the criminal justice system.
