Temps Up, Precip Down in Illinois Last Month
May weather closed out Spring and brought a taste of Summer to Illinois. Temperatures finally started to warm up last month, and records were smashed in many areas during that second week of May. Despite quite a few days of rain, the state as a whole ended up with below normal precipitation last month. For the entire Spring, rainfall was more than a half inch above average. Additionally, Illinois made it through spring without any significant flooding. Drought conditions have eased, with only far Northern Illinois and a section of far Southeastern Illinois rated as abnormally dry.
