Illinois Unemployment Down in April
The unemployment rate was down and jobs were up in most Illinois Metro areas last month. All 14 metro areas saw an over-the-year decrease in the jobless rate, indicating continued recovery. There was job growth as well as over-the-year job gains were seen in all Metro Areas except Danville. The largest increases were in Chicago and the suburbs as well as Rockford, Bloomington, Springfield and the Quad Cities. Industries with the most job gains from last year include leisure and hospitality, manufacturing and other services.
