Juneteenth Celebration Event at The Devon
DECATUR, IL – The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater in Decatur, Illinois, is proud to announce the 2nd annual Juneteenth Multicultural Celebration on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Starting at noon, a community picnic will be catered by Vinnies BBQ and the first 200 attendees will eat free! Local vendors are invited to reserve a booth to display their products and applications are being accepted for musical groups and soloists to battle it out on stage for cash prizes. A youth poem writing contest will also be the highlight of the event as young people share what Juneteenth means to them., This is a family friendly event open to all of Decatur and those in the surrounding area. “Juneteenth is a time for celebration and jubilee “, says Stacey Young, Commissioner, Decatur Park Board. “It symbolizes pride, unity, and freedom. It is our hope the community will come out, learn more about this special day, and join in the festivities that are happening not only at the Devon but around the area. The volunteer committee is working diligently to organize an event our community will be proud of.
This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.

The Devon G. Buffett Amphitheater is operated by the Decatur Park District and sits along the shores of Lake Decatur as part of Lakeshore Lading in Historic Nelson Park located in Decatur, Illinois. It is a destination for live, outdoor entertainment during the summer months. With a capacity of 3,200, the venue offers a wide range of entertainment including music of many genres, comedians and community movie nights.
