IDPH Issues Update On Potential Cases of Severe Hepatitis in Children
The Illinois Department of Public Health is providing an update on possible cases of severe hepatitis in children. Health officials have received reports of a total of nine patients under investigation for severe hepatitis in children under ten years of age. That is up from three that were reported last month. The cases date back to January, and the most recent had the onset of symptoms this month. All of the children were hospitalized, and one needed a liver transplant. No deaths were reported.
