New State Legislation Designed To Defend Illinois Students From Sexual Abuse
A new state law is designed to further protect Illinois students from sexual abuse in schools. Under the legislation, school leaders must notify school boards and parents if a teacher is found to have taken part in sexual misconduct with a student. It also ensures teachers who are caught have the incident recorded in the personnel file, so they can’t easily move to another school district. The law goes into effect next summer.
