Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is leading a coalition of attorneys general across the country in effort to terminate certain immigration policies. The coalition filed an amicus brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse a lower court’s decision requiring the federal government to continue the so-called “Remain in Mexico” immigration policy. The policy requires most asylum seekers arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border to return to Mexico while awaiting their asylum hearing. The Biden administration had attempted to end the policy, but a Texas-based federal court ordered the administration to continue it.
