Illinois is launching an effort to reduce gun violence in the state. Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Human Services announced the first of three opportunities for eligible organizations to apply for over 150-million-dollars in state funding to further violence prevention efforts. The first round of funding includes more than 50-million-dollars for violence prevention services in Chicago. Subsequent rounds of funding will go towards youth development and high-risk youth intervention programs.
