Man Charged In Police Shooting In Decatur

A man is charged with attempted murder after a police officer was shot over the weekend in Decatur.  Authorities say the officer was attempting a traffic stop early Saturday in the 900 block of East Clay when the driver ran off.  The officer began chasing the suspect, who fired one shot at the officer.  The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Police later arrested Joseph Williams and booked him into the Macon County Jail.
