COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Illinois. Health officials reported nearly 60-thousand news cases last week. That is up from the less than 50-thousand cases reported the week prior. The state is also approaching two-million total cases of the virus since the pandemic began.
With increased hospitalizations from COVID-19 and concerns of the omicron variant growing, state officials are issuing warnings. While there aren’t any mitigation efforts being announced like business closures or gathering limits, the Illinois Department of Public Health says it could be a deadly holiday season. Last week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said they are working to get monoclonal antibodies throughout the state, but he said supply is hard to come by.
