Illinois’ richest man is denying rumors that he has chosen his candidate to challenge Governor J.B. Pritzker. Reports yesterday said billionaire Citadel founder Ken Griffin had decided to financially back Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin as a potential candidate in the 2022 race. Griffin denied the reports in a statement, saying he looks forward to supporting candidates, Republican or Democrat, who will address the issues that plague Illinois. Irvin hasn’t announced a campaign for the governor’s race.
