The Illinois State Board of Education and some school districts are pushing for a change in the standardized testing system. The ISBE presented information yesterday during a hearing with lawmakers about the impacts of standardized testing along with a proposal to potentially eliminate some exams. The ISBE is proposing getting rid of the lengthy testing process at the end of each school year and breaking it down into three short assessments. School districts and education groups say eliminating some of the testing will allow for more in-person instruction and will provide students the opportunity to fully enjoy the learning process.
