On 10/30/21 at 3:32 AM, Decatur Police were sent to the area of Leafland and Union reference numerous calls of shots fired. Responding officers found an unresponsive 29-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered CPR to the victim until the arrival of medical personnel. The victim was transported to DMH where he remains in critical condition. While officers were on scene, a 32-year-old male and a 38-year-old female arrived at DMH with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, while a 35-year-old female presented at St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. It was learned that these three victims sustained their wounds during the same incident. All four victims are residents of Decatur.
Officers determined that a large house party in the 1100 block of N. Union, attended by upwards of 100 people had been taking place when multiple shots were fired by multiple shooters. Detectives were called in to process the crime scene and interview witnesses. Of the 100-plus attendees, very few witnesses have come forward.
