The recognition status of two public schools in Effingham County has been restored despite having a mask-optional policy. That’s after a judge issued a temporary restraining order against the Illinois State Board of Education on behalf of Beecher City and Cowden-Herrick schools. The districts’ recognition status was on probation for not following the governor’s mask mandate. The next hearing in the case is November 8th.
