Illinois Democrats Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth are among a group of U.S. Senators reintroducing legislation that would help fund education for students pursing degrees in high-skill industries. The Community College To Career Fund in Higher Education Act would support partnerships between technical and community colleges and businesses that would coordinate the training of students for careers in high-demand fields. The bill would benefit businesses by providing a pipeline of qualified candidates for vacant, high-paying jobs. A competitive grant program created by the bill would support the partnerships.
