Two new state laws require health insurers to cover more cancer screenings. State Senator Adriane Johnson of Buffalo Grove, who is the sponsor of both bills, says one measure mandates coverage of medically necessary screenings for the disease. The second bill requires coverage of colonoscopies when recommended by a doctor at no cost to the patient. Both laws take effect on January 1.
