Illinois City Proposes Pledge Mandate Before Council Meetings

Leaders in an Illinois city are considering a proposal mandating that the Pledge of Allegiance be said before official meetings.  Auburn alderman Jason Garrett wants to require the Pledge to be recited before all official meetings by city ordinance.  Garrett says the practice honors the legacy of those who have served their country.  The ordinance could face a vote as soon as the next city council meeting.
