A proposal to reform the process for issuing Firearm Owner ID cards is headed to the state Senate. The House passed a plan yesterday that would create an electronic FOID card and would consolidate concealed carry licenses into the process. The proposal also offers automatic renewal of FOID cards for gun owners who voluntarily provide fingerprints. The plan would provide state police with adequate funding to deal with the backlog of FOID and CCL applications.
