At a Friday morning news conference, Macon County Sheriff Tony Brown said it was time to heal and move forward as a community. To that end, he said he has made the decision not to contest the judge’s decision in the outcome of the 2018 election and will assist Macon County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Jim Root during his transition as Macon County Sheriff. Brown also announced that he will be retiring from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office effective June 28th.
