Some college athletes in Illinois are a step closer to getting paid. The Illinois House on Saturday approved a plan to allow college athletes to hire agents, and get paid for their name and likeness. Former U of I football player and current lawmaker Kambium Buckner is pushing the plan. If the proposal passes, Illinois would join more than 20 other states with similar laws to help college athletes make money while still in college.
