Two bills that would reform the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are in Governor J.B. Pritzker’s hands. One bill would require the agency to provide duffel bags for children in the state’s care to carry their belongings when they are moved around. The other bill would require DCFS workers to ensure that every future graduate completes their FAFSA form. The form is a key element in getting financial aid for college and trade schools. The National Association of Social Workers-Illinois backed both bills.
