The Illinois Department of Public Health is working toward an electronic COVID-19 vaccination certification for those wanting proof they’ve had the full cycle of the vaccine. Many businesses and events are considering requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for customers and staff. Concerns exist over the security of putting an app with the personal medical information on people’s phones.
Meanwhile, Governor Pritzker says any sort of Electronic Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination will be voluntary. As the state continues to explore ways for people to have an electronic copy of their vaccine card to easily pull up as needed, it doesn’t mean Illinoisans will be required to carry it like a passport according to Pritzker. According to the State Department of Public Health, more than 9.2 million doses have been administered, and over 31 percent of the population is now fully vaccinated.
