House lawmakers are voting for legislation that aims to bring an end to puppy mills. Pet shops could no longer sell dogs and cats from breeders, only shelters and animal control facilities under the bill. People will however, still be able to buy an animal on their own from a private breeder. Opponents say though the bill will hurt Mom and Pop pet shops, and doesn’t really do much to improve the welfare of animals. The bill now moves to the Senate.
