Illinois Measure Would Increase Education Requirements For Police Officers

An Illinois proposal would increase the education requirements for police officers.  The bill would require probationary officers to have a bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in social work in order to obtain a permanent law enforcement position.  If approved and signed, the bill would only apply to officers who begin employment after the law goes into effect.
