One of the groups that represents cities and counties in Springfield doesn’t want state government getting its hands on local federal stimulus money. The Illinois Municipal League this week suggested Congress send any local dollars included in the next coronavirus relief package directly to cities and counties. The League’s Brad Cole says Congress is talking about sending Illinois almost six billion-dollars in local money. He doesn’t want the state of Illinois to skim some of that in order to pay the state’s bills.
