An Illinois House committee is advancing a bill that would extend the age students could stay in special education programs. The Human Services Committee approved a bill yesterday that would allow students who have turned 22-years-old to stay until the end of the school year. Representative Fran Hurley filed the proposal on behalf of a neighbor whose son was pulled from school in November 2019 because he had turned 22, which severely disrupted his routine and consistency.
