The Illinois School Board of Education says it plans to apply for a waiver for Spring 2021 assessments in the state. Schools were offered waivers last spring because schools began teaching remotely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ISBE says more than a million students in the state continue with full-time remote learning. Nearly 700 superintendents in Illinois have signed a letter urging federal education officials to allow testing waivers this spring.
