A group of Illinois parents is suing Governor J.B. Pritzker over the impact of his previous high school sports restrictions. Parents say the restrictions caused damage to their children, including mental health issues and missing out on potential college scholarships. At least one parent attributes her son’s suicide partially to depression over the cancellation of his senior year track and pole-vaulting season. The lawsuit asks for a permanent injunction that would prevent Pritzker’s office from canceling the 2020-21 winter high school sports season.
