Due to the pandemic the need for food has increased in the Mt. Zion community. In order to answer that call, committee member of the Mt. Zion Food Pantry, Casey Johnson, has taken on the task of organizing a Food Drive set for this Saturday, February 6 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The public is asked to donate any unexpired food items by placing them in boxes or bags in the backseat or trunk of your vehicle and a volunteer will remove them for you when you drive through at Jodi’s Place, 1220 West Main Street in Mt. Zion. Individuals, Neighborhoods, Organizations or Groups are encouraged to collect items for this Food Drive, as currently their supply is very low so the need to re-stock the shelves is needed to keep up with the demand.
The Mt. Zion Food Pantry has expanded to 2 times a month. The Pantry is open the 3rd Thursday from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm and the 3rd Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am each month. Those eligible to receive the food items need to reside within the Mt. Zion School District; which includes Long Creek, Dalton City, Mt. Zion and parts of southeast Decatur.
