COVID-19 restrictions are being rolled back in much of Illinois. State health officials announced yesterday that Regions One, Two, and Six are moving to Tier One, allowing limited capacity indoor dining again. Regions Three and Five are now back on Phase Four of the Restore Illinois Plan. Regions Eight, Nine, Ten, and Eleven are moving from the most restrictive Tier Three to Tier Two.
Region Six includes Decatur and Macon County, and some bars and restaurants immediately opened for indoor dining, following the guidelines, Monday night.
The changes apparently became possible after the state announced a surge staffing program. The program lets Illinois hospitals that in need of more staff to partner with the state and expand the potential pool of employees. Hospitals with rooms available to increase capacity but lack the staff can partner with the state to gain more help.
