The Illinois Restaurant Association is calling for Governor J.B. Pritzker to bring back indoor dining. Association President Sam Toia says establishments have been closed for 75 straight days, which he calls unsustainable for the majority of the industry. Some restaurants have been able to offer carryout and delivery to help bring in revenue. Toia estimates over five thousand restaurants in the state will close permanently, leading to the loss of more than 120-thousand jobs. Pritzker’s administration says additional regions meeting guidelines may soon see some restrictions lifted, including the ban on indoor dining.
