At Thursday night’s regular meeting, the Macon County Board voted 12-9 to allow bars and restaurants to be open beginning Friday at 25% capacity.
Food and drinks can’t be ordered at the bar under the new rules, and there is a limit of the number of people allowed per table. Customers will also have to provide information in order to allow for contact tracing.
Thursday night’s vote changes the Macon County Health Department’s authority, by reducing its ability to enforce COVID-19 mitigation violations, however, the health department could be permitted to step in if COVID-19 begin to increase again in the county.
