The Illinois Nurses Association is protesting the hiring of subcontractors for jobs with the Illinois Department of Corrections. The INA filed a grievance December 16th on behalf of registered nurses working in the facilities, saying the state bypassed their collective bargaining agreement by hiring subcontractors. The subcontractors are being offered up to 185-dollars per hour, more than registered nurses working in the facilities. The IDOC hasn’t commented on the situation.
