Illinois Fire Marshal’s Office Urges Safety With Holiday Decorations

The state fire marshal’s office is stressing safety when it comes to putting up holiday decorations.  Spokesperson JC Fultz says the first concern is lights.  Candles are another hazard and should be kept away from anything flammable.  More than half of home decoration fires in December are caused by candles.
