Central Illinois Cities Enacting Mask Mandates

Several Central Illinois cities are enacting mask mandates.  Springfield’s mandate went into effect Wednesday and includes fines for violators.  Decatur has also expanded on the state’s mandate beginning Friday and has a progressive fine for continued violations.  Champaign enacted a mandate in August, but hasn’t expanded on the governor’s executive order.  Bloomington is also expected to enact a mask mandate by December as well. Officials say the mandates are important to fight the spread of COVID-19.
