Macon County Coroner Michael Day is releasing the name of a man who was killed at a liquor store in Decatur. Day says 63-year-old John Betscher died Saturday evening from several gunshot wounds. Officers say the shooting happened at JB North in the 13-hundred-block of North Calhoun Street. Betscher was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have released the following information on Facebook Tuesday morning as they are currently searching for a vehicle driven by the suspected shooter.
The vehicle appears to be a 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with dark tinted windows and a stock spoiler. It is believed to be black but could be dark blue or dark green. There was no front plate and the rear plate appears to be covered with something. The driver of the vehicle was the shooter, and it’s unclear if there were other occupants. The suspect appears to be a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a surgical mask. The vehicle came from the north and went back to the north. The entire incident took place in less than a minute.
