The Salvation Army kicked off their annual Red Kettle Campaign with a ribbon cutting Wednesday, announcing this year’s theme as “Rescue Christmas”, and announcing a fundraising goal of $560,000. The Salvation Army says this year’s Christmas Season Theme is a partnership with contemporary music artist Lauren Daigle and her song “Rescue”. They are encouraging people to listen to the words of her song and think about everyone coming together this Christmas Season to help rescue the lost, hopeless, and broken; as an army to help find those in the middle of darkness and the hardest fight in life to help restore hope.
Lieutenants Kenesa and Shanell Debela say “The theme speaks to restoring hope to those that have felt like they have lost all hope. We are here to restore that hope by providing food, toys, and support through our many programs for families in need.”
The 2020 Christmas Season Chairs are Dan and Jo Caulkins who presented the Salvation Army with a 5-thousand dollar check, and are encouraging everyone to get on board during this season of giving. “This year we especially ask that you consider making an online donation at www.SalArmy.US/DecaturKettle and setting up your own on-line virtual kettle here also. You might also, in the spirit of the season, join us to volunteer a few hours of your time to ring bells and make a donation to the Red Kettles, donate a toy, help us set up or work at the Toy Shop, and consider attending and making a matching gift donation to one of the fundraising events.”
