Election 2020 is in the books. With heavy voter turnout across the state and across the country, tallies lagged in to the evening but before midnight, many races had in fact been determined. Senator Dick Durbin was declared the winner early in the evening. The Congressional race between incumbent Rodney Davis and his challenger Betsy Dirksen Londrigan saw Londrigan take an early lead, but Davis roared back throughout the evening, eventually holding his seat in Congress 61 to 39 percent. In the contested Illinois House seat race for the 96th District, incumbent Sue Scherer held off challenger Charlie McGorray, 52 to 44 percent.
In contested local races in Macon County, Scott Rueter has reclaimed the States Attorney post he held previously, defeating Tammy Wagoner 62 to 38 percent. In County Board races, District 1 saw Karl Coleman defeating Jody Fronk 55 to 45 percent. In District 3, Ryan Kreke emerged as the clear front runner, but it was a tight race between Bryan Smith and Marcy Rood. In the end Rood edged out 29-28 percent, a mere 77 votes separating the two candidates. In District 5, Debra Kraft and Jeff Entler were the winners receiving 43 and 36 percent of the votes, respectively, and in District 6, Dave Drobisch defeated Rob Hickey 69 to 31 percent.
