The University of Illinois Hospital nurses strike is over. The union and management reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year deal that will be voted on Monday. The weeklong walkout that involved 800 nurses ended Saturday when they went back to work without a contract. The new deal includes a promise to hire 160 more nurses to reduce patient loads, more protective gear, hazard pay for working during the pandemic, and other guarantees.
