Early voting is underway across most of the state. If you don’t want to mail in your ballot but still want to avoid the polls on Election Day, early voting is a good option according to the Illinois State Board of Elections’ Matt Dietrich. He says that while most early voting typically occurs shortly before election day, they are hoping voters take advantage of it now. Meanwhile, ballots started going out Thursday for the more than 1.8 million Illinois voters who have requested to vote by mail. There has been a big push for mail-in voting this year as an alternative for those who don’t want to risk exposure to the coronavirus at the polls. You can also still request a mail-in ballot on the Board of Elections’ website, elections.il.gov
