The Illinois University Academic Senate is moving forward with a resolution to change the school’s mascot. The senate voted in favor of the Kingfisher as the university’s new mascot, and is asking the chancellor to publicly condemn the use of the chief. The trustees’ board must still review the decision. The Kingfisher mascot is a stylized version of the bird first put forth by a student in the spring.
