ComEd is pleading not guilty to accusations of federal bribery. The plea was entered today although the Chicago-based utility has already agreed to pay a 200-million-dollar fine and have prosecution deferred for three years. Prosecutors said last month ComEd took part in a bribery scheme for years involving someone called “Public Official A” believed to be Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan. Court documents did not identify the official but say he currently serves as Illinois House Speaker. Madigan has yet to be charged.
