According to a release from Macon County Coroner Michael Day, a 16 year old Maroa girl was pronounced dead at the scene of a single vehicle accident at 3:15 Wednesday morning on South Lincoln Memorial Parkway near Elwin Road in Macon County. The vehicle apparently struck a retaining wall/roadway fixture and the crash was reported at about 10:15 Tuesday night. The victim suffered massive torso and lower extremity trauma.
Two other occupants of the vehicle were also injured and airlifted to an out of county trauma center. There is no information currently available on their status. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification. The crash is being investigated by the Macon County Sheriff’s office and an inquest is pending.
