Penguin in the Park, the annual 5K held in Fairview Park is a fundraiser that provides financial assistance to youth athletic programs and higher education institutions in Macon County. The annual event was originally scheduled to be held March 28th, however with the Stay At Home Order in place at that time, the event was postponed to the second half of the year.
Currently, the race committee is continuing to monitor conditions with the possibility of the 5K happening this Fall, more than likely Mid-October according to a release. The release added that a decision will be made in the first week of August as to whether or not the race will be held in-person, or virtually.
