Severe storms rolled through Central Illinois Saturday, downing trees and knocking out power to tens of thousands of Ameren customers. As of Sunday evening, personnel from here in Illinois and neighboring states were on hand to continue restoring power to people and businesses from Peoria to Champaign and in to Decatur. At one time, more than 40,000 customers were left in the dark due to the strong storms. Crews are continuing to work throughout the area and hope to have power restored sometime today.
