A group of business organizations is speaking out against Illinois’ proposed progressive income tax amendment. The organizations urged people to vote against the plan, saying it would raise taxes even on those with low incomes. The coalition included the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Farm Bureau, the National Federation of Independent Business Illinois, and the Technology and Manufacturing Association. The Chairman of the Vote Yes For Fairness Political Action Committee responded to the comments, saying the organizations represent the wealthy who have benefited from what he called the current unfair tax system.
