Due to the observance of the Independence Day holiday, the Macon County Health Department will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2020. In light of this holiday closure, today they are providing the testing numbers that we typically provide in Friday’s release.
Thus far, 8,336 tests have been performed in Macon County. Since Wednesday there have been no newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19. Therefore, the overall number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Macon County remains at 232.
The Illinois Department of Public Health Thursday announced 869 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 36 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 144,882 cases, including 6,987 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 30,262 specimens for a total of 1,666,317. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from June 25 –July 1, is 2.6%.
