A constant stream of well-wishers and supports visited the Decatur Police Department Thursday. Young and old alike were on hand for the afternoon “Decatur Police Department Appreciation Event” that was held over the course of the officers’ shift change hours from 1:15 until 3pm. One of the organizers, Nicole Pinkston said the idea came from conversations with her family on how they felt they could rally support for the men and women in blue. Kids were on hand with signs showing support, and there were goodie bags filled with snacks and other items for law enforcement. There is another rally scheduled to show support for Law Enforcement Saturday, June 27th. The “Back the Blue Rally” is scheduled to begin at 10am at the intersection of Water Street and Mound Road in Decatur. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs and show their support.
