Sheriff’s Association Sues the Illinois Department of Corrections

Sheriffs across Illinois are going to court to try and get the state of Illinois to take their inmates to prison. The Illinois Sheriff’s Association last week filed a lawsuit to force the Illinois Department of Corrections to accept people who should be in prison. Illinois froze prison intakes earlier this year because of the coronavirus. The sheriffs say that decision is crowding their jails, making things unsafe, and costing them money that they don’t have.
