COVID-19 relief funding will be part of Illinois’ 2021 proposed budget.
Lawmakers passed the 42-billion-dollar measure over the weekend. More than 600-million was allocated to the state public health system, with over 400-million more going to local health departments. Around 200-million has been set aside for downstate businesses affected by the pandemic. Governor J.B. Pritzker has praised the budget, while Republicans call it unbalanced.
